About the PTO

The Bay Village Early Childhood PTO is a local, volunteer-run, non-profit group for families with children from birth to six years old. Since 1948 the organisation has kept the same goals: to help promote a happy family life, to offer friendship with others of common interests, and to serve the community through projects that benefit the welfare of young children.

What we do

  • Playgroups — a way for children to learn social skills and make friends while parents get to know each other.
  • Field trips and children's parties — apple picking, the pumpkin patch, police and fire station tours; Halloween, Breakfast with Santa and a spring party.
  • Adult outings and interest groups — nights out, health and wellness, walking groups, a meal-prep group.
  • Hospitality — meals and welcome packages for families with a new child, and for families going through a hard time.
  • Community service and fundraising — busy bags for children in local hospitals, the Santa Shop, the resale and the community garage sale. What we raise supports Bay Village's early childhood programmes and keeps our own events affordable.
  • General meetings — a speaker, refreshments and other parents, monthly during the school year.

Who runs it

An executive board of parent volunteers, elected each spring, plus committees for membership, events and hospitality. Every officer is a member with young children of their own. To reach the board or the membership committee, use the contact form — it goes straight to the people currently holding those roles.
